Cheatham Annex
This U.S. Navy Retrograde project commenced on 23 September 2010 at Cheatham Annex, VA with the loading of approximately 48 pieces of actual rolling stock and 161 containers. Two barges were utilized; the COLUMBIA CHARLESTON handled the container operation and the COLUMBIA BALTIMORE handled the RO / RO operation of the Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE). Both barges commenced operations simultaneously the morning of Thursday 9/23/10.
Columbia Coastal Transport, with the aid of an outside rigging company designed and installed the cargo ramps aboard the BALTIMORE for the CESE. All of the CESE was loaded and lashed securely for transit to Blount Island Command in Jacksonville, FL. There it was discharged and approximately 60 pieces of older CESE equipment was loaded for the return trip back to Cheatham Annex.
The CHARLESTON, utilizing our “state-of-the-art” cargo securing gear, loaded the containers southbound for discharge at Blount Island and subsequently loaded 187 containers for the return trip to Cheatham Annex.
The move was executed flawlessly with the aid of vetted towing, rigging, crane service and stevedoring partners of Columbia Coastal Transport.
